New York Comic Con 2024: An Unforgettable Experience in the Heart of Fandom
New York Comic Con 2024 was nothing short of spectacular. Held from October 17-20 at the iconic Javits Center in New York City, this year's event welcomed around 200,000 passionate attendees, all eager to immerse themselves in the vibrant world of pop culture, cosplay, comics, and more. From the moment the doors opened, the energy was electric, with every corner of the convention offering something new and exciting for fans.
At Creative Cosplays Magazine, we were honored to be a part of the action with our booth set up in the bustling Cosplay Central area. As the only cosplay-focused magazine represented at NYCC, our booth quickly became a hub for cosplayers, fans, and creators alike. Throughout the event, we were humbled by the outpouring of compliments on our magazine and booth layout. So many attendees were thrilled to meet us in person—some even came specifically for the chance to connect with the Creative Cosplays team. It was an incredible opportunity to finally meet and take photos with many of the talented individuals who’ve been featured in our magazines over the years.
The booth wasn't just about promoting our magazine. We teamed up with Jason Keith, who runs Cosplay World, and Siser North America, to make our presence even more impactful. Jason was there to promote the upcoming Cosplay World event, and Siser provided a large Romeo Cutter for a special raffle we held throughout the convention. The raffle was a huge hit, drawing in even more attendees curious about the grand prize.
Our guest cosplayers were another major attraction, adding to the nonstop excitement at the booth. Fans had the chance to meet talented creators like Spideymom and Spidey Kid, BabsButcher, LaneyFeni, LexWipp, The Big Bad Punisher, SirjuliusCosplay, CosplayBen, Heroes 4 Hire Costumes, The Bearded Tatooed Guy in GA, and many more. One of the biggest highlights was The Bearded Tattooed Guy in GA, whose enormous cosplays, including Rhino and the Batman Thrasher Suit, stopped people in their tracks. The larger-than-life costumes became a huge draw, with crowds gathering to take pictures and chat with the cosplayers.
Cosplay Central itself was buzzing with activity throughout the weekend. From the Star Wars-themed area, where kids could shoot Nerf guns at Stormtroopers, to workshops teaching attendees how to create cosplay accessories, there was never a dull moment. Surrounding us were other cosplayer and maker booths showcasing products ranging from makeup and crafting materials to custom cosplay suits. It was truly a one-stop-shop for all things cosplay.
Of course, NYCC wasn’t just about cosplay—it was a celebration of fandom in all its forms. This year’s event featured celebrity guests, incredible artist showcases, panel discussions, exclusive merchandise, and surprise appearances. In true NYCC fashion, some of the biggest moments were unplanned, like when Charlie Cox and Tom Hardy made surprise appearances at the Marvel booth, sending the crowd into a frenzy. Exclusive items were a hot commodity, generating massive lines as fans scrambled to get their hands on one-of-a-kind collectibles.
Walking through the convention, it was impossible to see everything in one go. The sheer scale of NYCC, combined with the number of well-designed vendor booths, immersive experiences, and thrilling events, made it one of the most impressive shows to date. For many, the best moments came down to luck—being in the right place at the right time to catch a celebrity sighting, win a raffle, or snag a limited-edition item.
Whether it was attending panels, shopping for exclusive items, or meeting your cosplay heroes, NYCC 2024 was packed with excitement and surprises at every turn. The sense of community, creativity, and fandom was palpable, and we were honored to play a role in it. We're already counting down the days until next year!
