Welcome Alexis, Thank you for taking the time to answer a few question for us that we hope will help fans of yours learn a little bit more about you and your story as a growing Content Creator. Let’s start with the basics!
Where do you call home, and can you share a bit about what life was like growing up there?
Ohio is home for me! I grew up in a pretty small town, the type where everyone knows each other, and that can be both a good and bad thing, haha. People often mistakenly think I’m from the south because of the way I sound, but I swear it’s the small-town accent!
How did you first get into the world of cosplay? Was there a particular moment or character that inspired you to start?
I first got into cosplay last year! I did theater in high school growing up, and I always loved the costumes that we would get to wear. But last year, my best friend and I wanted to meet the author of our favorite webtoon, Lore Olympus, and we decided to go all out. It was our first ever con and first time cosplaying! I also decided to dress up as Wonder Woman the second day of comic con, and I’ve been hooked ever since!
Let’s talk about your NYCC experience. We had the pleasure of meeting you there in 2023, which I think was the first time for both of us attending that event. That was only last year and already such a milestone! What drove you to attend? What was it like stepping into such a massive event for the first time and how much experience do you have with comic convention style events like that?
I’m so glad I ran into you there! It was absolute MADNESS going to NYCC for the first time, especially having no prior experience of any other comic cons. It can be very overwhelming, but everyone there that stopped to take pictures was so kind!
Was NYCC 2023 the jumping off point that started your content creation journey, or had you started well before that event? Did you expect that event to play such a big role in your social media journey?
It was not! I had been doing content creation for a couple of months at that point, but it was not focused on cosplay. I truly believe I have the BEST followers, as they are always so supportive of me, no matter what I throw their way. I like to keep them on their toes. And I did not expect it! I was able to attend this year as a content creator, which I felt incredibly blessed to be able to do!
What was it like watching your following grow so quickly within the past year since then, and what steps did you take that growth?
It has been crazy! But I am so thankful for every single person that decided to follow me. I started posting every day and tried to build an engaging, positive community!
When new viewers discover you on TikTok or Instagram, they quickly see your unique style that you have created for yourself—blending corporate fashion with fandoms! What inspired you to take cosplay in that direction?
I wanted to have some fun with my work wardrobe and decided to spice up my life! It also pushed me outside of my comfort zone by wearing things that I normally wouldn’t wear to work. But life is short! And I hope that I can inspire people to be themselves, even if it’s seen as different.
Following up with that, what do you do for a living that has helped create your corporate wardrobe?
I work a full-time corporate job as a Program Analyst!
You’ve gained such a devoted following on both Instagram and TikTok. What do you think resonates most with your audience about your work?
They often tell me that they appreciate me just being myself! That and I just try to spread happiness and good vibes in all of my videos.
And speaking of your content, it’s always so polished and creative with seamless transitions and singing to some awesome classic songs. To create content as often as you do, do you have a process for planning your shoots, or is it more of a “see where inspiration takes me” approach?
It’s kind of just whatever I’m in the mood for that day! I feel like if you aren’t feeling like doing a certain style of video that day, it definitely shows and people can tell. So I usually just see how I’m feeling that day, and let the creativity run wild.
I’m curious—if you look back at some of your first posts, how do you feel about your progression as a creator? What’s changed the most in your style or approach? What tricks and tips have you figured out that you could share with others who are looking to grow their visibility on social media?
I’m proud of my progress! I still just kind of show up doing whatever, but I feel like my filming style has definitely improved! If I had to give any tips, it would be try and grow an organic audience, and show up as yourself! The right people will find you, but it may take some time. Don’t get discouraged. 😊
With so many characters under your belt, do you have a favorite cosplay memory, or maybe a character that you feel a special connection with?
Oh Zatanna is probably my favorite to cosplay! She’s very easy to do, plus I get told I look like her the most. Plus, Batman was my favorite superhero growing up!
And, are there any new characters or fandoms you’re eager to dive into? Or any dream cosplay that’s on your “one day” list?
I am currently working on a Captain Carter cosplay! So stay tuned for that one. 😉
I’ve heard you’re a bit of a foodie! You even helped to save me from starvation while NYCC by grabbing us some amazing ice cream from a vendor that was there that I can’t thank you enough for doing. What are some of your favorite types of food or dishes? Which foods are your Kryptonite?
Haha! I do love food! ESPECIALLY ice cream. And it was not a problem at all! I love Italian food! Like pizza, pasta, really all the carbs. But I also love a good steak too. Sweets are my absolute kryptonite. Like cookies, ice cream, brownies…. I just love them all so much.
NYCC was a bit of a travel from where you are from! Do you travel much and if so, do you have a favorite places to visit, or maybe even any must-visit spots for finding great food while on your travels?
I love to travel! I do a lot of solo traveling and it’s wonderful! Trying out new food is my favorite part of traveling. I always love going to NYC and seeing the city which my must try places when I’m there are Los Tacos, Magnolia Bakery for the banana pudding, Artichoke Pizza-get the artichoke pizza, trust me, and Bonchon for their Korean fried chicken! Another favorite place to visit of mine is Anna Maria Island in Florida!
What’s something about you that might surprise people—something they wouldn’t expect from just seeing you on social media?
That I don’t talk much about my social media presence to those around me! I try to keep those two lives pretty separate from one another. So really only my close friends and family know that I also do social media as well.
It’s impressive seeing how confidently you handle the camera and the crowd. Have you always been this comfortable in the spotlight, or is that something you’ve had to grow into?
NO. I was extremely uncomfortable with it. I did theater but I felt like that was different. But after doing therapy for a while, I realized I had a massive fear of being seen, and I wanted to push myself past that. So, I forced myself into these situations and learned to deal with it. It can be terrifying but also exhilarating at the same time!
With all this success and visibility, how do you balance everything—cosplay, content creation, social life?
I internally scream everyday. Haha no but I had to figure out a schedule for myself! When I film, when I edit, when I socialize… it is all is on a schedule.
How would you best describe your personality, and do you think it is different from what people may think based on your social media content?
I am a pretty easy going, happy person! I try to portray that as much as possible in my videos. People often expect me to be an extrovert though, and that is not the case! I definitely lean more introverted.
Do you have any advice that you would give your past self before all this social media attention came your way?
Just post the videos. Don’t wait! I had such a fear of being judged. But the truth is, people are going to judge you anyways. You still have to do what makes YOU happy.
Looking forward, what’s next for Lexwipp? Are there any exciting projects or appearances that fans can look out for?
I am planning on attending more cons next year! I also am working on some merchandise as well!
And before we wrap up, is there anything you’d like to say to the fans who’ve been with you along the way?
Yes! Thank you all seriously so much for the incredible support and love you show to me everyday. I wouldn’t be doing what I was doing if it weren’t for you! Your kindness and warmth towards me is deeply appreciated.
Lastly, where’s the best place for everyone to connect with you and stay up-to-date with everything you’re working on?
Right now, it is TikTok! But with the potential ban in place, it will probably change to Instagram. But that will be dependent on what takes place. 😊
Thank you so much for allowing us the chance to get to know you a little more and to share it with both current and future fans of yours. We look forward to seeing what the future journey of yours looks like and we wish you the best of luck on your adventures ahead.
